The Pont des Vosges is a traditional restaurant in the centre of Strasbourg, a place to be for intellectuals, academics and politicians. It is not full of tourists, but full of local people, most of them knowing the owners and waiters. The food is good, like a family cuisine, and offering local specialities. Nothing exceptional, but worth the prize you'll pay for it. Two minuses: inside, tables are sometimes very close to each other and you might prefer more intimacy; outside, the terrace is nice, but noisy because of the trafic on the Avenue des Vosges.
I have been coming here on and off for years and the restaurant keeps impressing with a classic but well prepared cuisine. The reservation process was simple and confirmed within 24 hours. The waiter was knowledgeable and discreet. We had sardines as starters which we found a bit disapointing as they were served cold, the salad with filet de rouget was light and very enjoyable. The cod was very well prepared as was the sweetbreads, very delicate. The cake for dessert was excellent. Always a pleasure to come back to.
Charming, welcoming and mighty fine nosh. Great selection of wines as well. Not one empty seat in the entire restaurant from the moment it opened at 19h00.
If you can laugh off Grumpy, hilarious, the lady owner is warm, welcoming and the food is classic. I always order foie de veau à l’anglaise, liver and bacon to you and me. Despite a delicious and comprehensive menu, my friends end up ordering the same... I love this place!
I had dinner here with friends on a Friday night. It was supposed to represent a modern cuisine of the region and looking at the pictures on the restaurant's home page, that's what it should have been. We were served very traditional overcooked food without any finesse or attempt at any decorative presentation. I had deer stew with spätzle, the meat tasted good, but part of the spätzle was burnt. My friends had beef, not grilled but obviously fried in a pan, served with bleak carrots and mashed potatoes. Nothing extraodinary. The wine recommendation did not turn out well either. The "amuse-bouche" was plain sticks of mille-feuille, which tasted absolutely nothing, but certainly set the tone of te rest of the food.
