I have never had a fine dining experience before so I was excited when we were able to secure reservations for two the evening of Bastille day! Initially, we had trouble figuring out how to make reservations because their Facebook "book now" option wasn't working and there wasn't clear instructions on their website. Fortunately, my friend was able to email them and they responded promptly, which we appreciated! *For your information, they take their last reservation at 10pm so be sure to have at least 2 hours of time to enjoy your time here! Email for reservations as that seems to be the quickest way to get a response. Perhaps it was because it was Bastille day but we did not have the option of choosing what number of courses we wanted. So we went with the "5 Miles" and the wine pairing. This was €70 per person (€48 for the food and €22 for the wine). We asked to be seated in front of the kitchen so we could watch the chefs as they prepared our food. They were able to accommodate us. Two complimentary starters were brought to us to try: 1) Italian bread with smoked paprika - it reminded me of cornbread but less dense and lighter.2) Beef carpaccio with oyster and seaweed - took me by surprise, it was quite tasty for being raw meat in essence! For the actual 5 course meal (as of July 14, 2017); these may not be complete in their description as I was typing these notes down as the chef and waitress were explaining to us!1) White tuna sashimi with dashi broth, watermelon marinated in soy sauce, and tomato skin tempura2) Green bean salad with almonds, cheese foam, topped with jelly made from hisbiscus and figs3) Monkfish with gnocchi and artichoke, dried olives, and roasted lemon gel4) Roasted/pan seared duck with caramelized eggplant on top of an eggplant and soysauce purée, sweet corn and red pepper salad, and duckling 5) White chocolate ganache paired with apricot chili jam, black seasame ice cream, and a green tea/matcha cakeFor the wine, we were given 3 whites to try and 1 red for the 4th course. I cannot recall what we tried to be honest!Being seated right in front of the chefs was an amazing experience you cannot miss out on. You see them plate with such precision and care, each element that's necessary to make the dish whole. We tried to guess what was what but failed for the most part. It was such a delight to watch them work their magic to bring everyone delicious and beautiful food. The chef was also able to describe our dish to us in detail more than once, which you will not get if you sit at a table. When we had questions about something, the chefs were very receptive and more than happy to explain to us. Overall, the food tasted so well-balanced to us! Combinations of flavors and textures I never would have thought of trying worked splendidly together. Nothing was overpowering and I believe every component of the dish complimented each other and had a purpose. My favorites were the last two courses, the duck and the dessert. I can't remember ever having anything that extraordinary. Words can't do those dishes justice nor photos. It was an absolute pleasure to have been served by these young and talented chefs. I wish them the best for their bright future!I highly recommend trying Miles if you have the chance! Make your reservations ASAP, set aside 2 hours, and enjoy the experience!
