Friends recommended the newly re-opened Cheval Blanc. The decor is simple but good. The owners are French and speak excellent English. The menu is simple but over priced for St Cier, a 220gm Entrecote for 18 euros fails to compete, local Charentaise VDP wines priced from 12 to 21 euros seem greedily priced. I had the Steak Tartare which was unherbed, a little bland but some flavour added with a little Blue cheese, chips and salad were presented. The 3/4 deserts offered did not appeal to me so cheese was offered and taken. All seemed OK and we just agreed over priced and NOT worthy of a return visit, sadly within six hours and for 48 hours I was very ill with an assumed food poisoning.Overall, we would say good luck but visit at your peril.

Fabulous meal at Le Cheval Blanc, love the new decor too. Can't wait to go return. Warmly welcomed by new owners, who have been in the restaurant business a long time and are obviously extremely good at it!

Stopped by here whilst driving through and after reading a couple of the reviews we thought we'd give it a go. Gave the pasta a try after claiming to be home made and it's clearly made and bought off site unlike what other reviews have claimed, it was somewhat dry and over priced for what it is. Overall cooking was well below average, I've had teenagers deliver better tasting food than this and customer service was very average, décor was equally as bad.Overall I'd give this place a 2/10 my recommendation is to find somewhere else!

they do a very good value set menu at 12 euros 50 but sadly all the food we wanted wasn't part of that so it ended up being quite expensive for a cheap lunch out. No complaints about the food at all though. Fois gras tagliatelle and a lovely scallop pasta dish. The lady that served us was English, which is very unusual for a French owned bar, which came in handy. It would be great if you didn't know the area and wanted some tips. Not pretty and not very atmospheric but clean and friendly.

This is under new and experienced management. Very reasonable prices which represent superb value. Fresh pasta is made on the premises with a wide range of dishes. Wine choice is limited but excellent. Staff are courteous, well presented and efficient.I have eaten there several times and will return - I unhesitatingly recommend it.

The CB has just reopened and has clearly had a facelift in the restaurant and the menu!We popped in for lunch one Friday. There were three set-menus ranging from 12 to 16 euro. All our dishes were just right I had the eel pasta which was superb and my wife enjoyed her lasagne. The house white wine was spot-on too. The chef and staff were attentive and very pleasant. We'll be back :-)The Photo is of my cafe gourmand which was a pleasant finish to the meal. The only thing I would change.....dim the lights a little. But that's being picky. It is well worth a visit!

Carte réduite, mais pour tous les goûts. Produits de qualité et très bien préparés. Accueil sympathique et décors cosy.
