We found this charming restaurant on our tour around the Dentelles de Montmirail, a winemaker recommended it to us. La Roque-Alric is a very small village set against a giant rock, you have to park your car in the public space at the bottom and walk up the streets. The restaurant is to the right. Dutch owner Joanna was very welcoming and charming, the season has only just started for her and it is still a bit quiet. For us it was paradise to sit in the romantic garden, roses flowering, a set menu on the blackboard. Joanna recommended amazing wine from her small well selected wine list and disappeared into the kitchen to prepare the food. It was country cuisine at it's best.

We have stopped in this restaurant a couple of times in recent years when on a walk from Le Barroux and have found it a welcoming experience whether just for a coffee or for a light lunch. I don't know if it has now changed hands but when we popped in for lunch last week, a French lady told us that if we could not eat there without a reservation. The garden was empty and she had two tables out on front terrace made up for diners. We were amazed to say the least!Happily, we took our umbrage to L'Ancienne a la Poste in Entrechaux where we were given a warm welcome, great food and outstanding personal service!

Delightful spot in a Village perchee. Run by a very welcoming Dutch lady' and her team.€27.50 Euros menu , with 2 choices of entree , plat and desset.Wines ok and a bit expensive for the area, and mostly out of vrac/by pichet. CuisineRegional and a good standard. Lovely to eat outside in fine weather.

Our group of seven wine producers from the FLX enjoyed a wonderfully informal, relaxed and delicious light lunch of local ingredients from Joanna with fresh Rose´ and marvelous dry, fresh Muscat.

This was my second favorite meal in France, but number one when considering cost to pleasure ratio! No doubt. The whole team was friendly and kind. They had prepared a meal that was reflective of Provence and it was truly delicious. Not fussy or busy but simple and rustic. It's how I imagine my mother's cooking, if she were French, a chef, tolerant of bread, and didn't use msg.

The restaurant is nestled in the small village of La Roque-Alric hugging the rocks that overlooking a beautiful valley full of grapevines and agricultural fields. We were seated outside on a warm sunny afternoon with the Cicadas singling in the backdrop. A most romantic setting. The meal was wonderful and created from fresh fare from the local markets. My favorite was the peach dessert served with a local wine from Beaume de Venise. This place is magical. You can slow down and take in the scenery, delicious foods, wines and the warm hospitality. This is why you travel to France to experience the provincial way of life.

A regular haunt and we are never disappointed. Truly wonderful setting, ambiance and the warmest of welcomes, always such a pleasure. Fab green olive tapenade and crusty brown bread, soft tortellini stuffed with salmon and a mushroom sauce was carefully balanced and delicious. Lucious Osso Bucco with Milanese risotto a triumph. Gorgeous peach dessert, lemon and chocolate tarts also excellent. All from a 27 euro menu, brilliant value. And the Rhone red slipped down a treat too. We will be back, often!!

After I had read such astounding reviews, perhaps I was a little over ambitious on my expectations. I booked this restaurant before leaving for our trip, but had to rearrange for two days later. Joanna was very nice, but considering it was the only restaurant I had prebooked before the trip, I think I expected a bit more - from her and the restaurant. The town is very dramatic looking. The restaurant is small. The menu is quite limited and honestly, I expected more. We are a group that has eaten all over the world but I don't mind a provincial restaurant as long as what they do is done with flare and passion. I did not feel that the night we are there. It was ok. Nothing more nothing less. Perhaps we were spoiled from the night before in Gigondas.
