La Strada

Ate here on our first night. Sat for 15 minutes before being attended to although they had seated us at the table so knew we were there and the place wasn't that busy. Food average, service average to poor, staff seemed disinterested. Plenty of other places on the main drag that maybe deserve people's custom as we really felt that we were a hassle to have in the restaurant.

On sunday July 9th we were a Cabourg around 4 in the afternoon; it took us a very long time to find a restaurant where we could eat; most restaurants re-open at 7 p.m. for diner. Luckely we found La Strada open. We ordered the 3 course meal with choice of entry, main course and dessert. we both had fish soup as an an entry : a really large bowl of good tasting soup with cheese and cream. The main course we ordered was : duo of fishc with rice, potatoes and leek (also enough and very good); for dessert we had a really nice Café Gourmand : coffee, ice cream, chocolate mousse, maracon.... togethet with a bottle of cidre rosé we paid exactly 50 eur. This menu is really worth the price. Really recommendable!!

We stopped in Cabourg on our way to Deauville and found this café by luck, in the main street. Fairly basic, but great crepes and salads, just what we needed.

Meal for 1 end of August, 17 euro for good starter of tomato salad with ham and flakes of cheese and mozzarella. Plat of salmon plus very good haricots vert plus verre of Touraine blanc for 3 euro. Total 20 euro. Great value good food delivered with a welcoming smile and promptly. Ambiance good , lots of diners (no stuffed shirts) who were normal hungry people interested in good ordinary food well presented. Restaurant decor warm red and yellow, perfect background of happy chompers eating well and having laughing conversation on a chilly evening. Altogether excellent. Would come again if ever down this way.

That's not saying much in this deadzone, but we had a nice meal and some really good desserts at this place.

I took my daughter here last year and felt I should be grateful that they had even given us a table. We thought we would give it another try yesterday and were appalled to be greeted with a shout of "no room" as we walked into the place, like we had some sort if contagious disease. This was followed by another member of staff confirming no tables, no apology or suggestion that we could come back later. Unwelcoming, poor service and based in last year's meal there the food dies not rank much better. Avoid & go to one of Cabourgs other, more friendly restaurants instead where you will not be treated like you are doing them a favour.

we were charmed by outside terrace. anyway it was cold to have a lunch there and we ate inside the restaurant. i took a pizza and my freind had some spaghetti. it was not so tasty. drinks are expensive, as usual. sometimes we were asked the same thing by two different waiters. we will not come back!!!
