We have been visiting Cassis for the last 20 years (during which many things have changed), and gave Laurent another try this summer. We are glad we did. We started with a soup de poisson, then had the catch of the day (Dorade royale.) The food as excellent, fresh and tasty. Our waiter was very pleasant, and the setting is (as most restaurants in the harbour of Cassis) lively and scenic. Would definitely recommend if you like fish. Reservation during summer is recommended, or come early.

Beautiful location and pretty restaurant. We hadn't booked so they asked us to sit at a quayside table while they found a table for us. Very helpful in finding us a table but things went downhill after that. We both decided to have moules frites the moules were ok in themselves but I had 6 closed ones which is a lot for one dish. We were not given a bowl to wash fingers or wipes. I had Provençal sauce which had a strange flavour and was quite unpleasant. My wife had the cream sauce which was better but a bit thick and claggy. The frites were also disappointing as they were thick cut and not very good. Looked to be plenty of similar good places to eat but this was a poor choice. I think they are relying on their location and not their food

We're local which is why I've said we won't be back. As everyone says, the location like all the rest is great, It's a fast food joint and has great chips but the rest is inconsistent and with fish, that's the kiss of death. The other problem is that the tables are too close together, the chairs are really uncomfortable for sitting for very long and the staff are rushing back and forth lie a marathon which basically gave me indigestion!

Let me start by stating that the restaurant is perfectly situated with a beautiful view of the surrounding scenery; service was good. But when you go to a place like this you expect the food to be relatively edible and probably fresh; it was NEITHER.Fritures mixtes: a mix of mini fish deep fried and a staple of southern french and Mediterranean cuisine was a total failure. The fish were not fresh (probably frozen), not crunchy and tasted stale with a lost a bitter taste.Souped de poisson: the fish soup was blah! Noix de St. Jacques: Although we were told they would be fresh, they were not. Also way overcooked and dry and covered with too much pesto sauce and french fries! Summary: expensive but bad food in a beautiful setting; someone should buy them out!

Cassis is full of good places to eat and on the marina front outside in good weather couldn't really get any better however I felt the meal we had here could most certainly have been better for the price !This place is a specialist fish venue so choosing a fish dish has to be the way to go...we chose fish soup as a starter which was the same as everyone else's fish soup and I felt it could have been better in content and presentation for 12 euros or thereabouts .!was no different to the bottled fish soup you see in any supermarket.Similar situation with the main course...ordered a sole meuniere which was Ok but not memorable and again at 24/25 euros for the dish, could have been better presented with some vegetables or something to add colour !I ordered a local white which was dull and without any body but that was my fault not the restaurant's !Overall not a great meal and for 88 euros for 2, we could have done better elsewhere in the town so you need to shop about and ask the locals for guidance !

Cassis is magnificent. La Poissoniere was quite good as well. The Moules were good and the gambas were very good. We had a red wine with our meal despite the waiter's insistence that we have a white or rose.

Right on the port front, this busy restaurant serves fish. The meal we had was OK - nothing terrible but nothing noteworthy - perhaps its success is due to its location rather than the food?

Le Bouchon Lyonnais

Le Bouchon Lyonnais

Avenue Victor Hugo | Impasse Farine, 13260 Cassis, France

We chose Le Bouchon Lyonnais for dinner. The place looked extremely inviting with its large chandelier that you could see at the end of the alley way - complete with red check table cloths - it just said "come and eat with me." So we did. We were quite early and only the second table in. We were seated in direct line with the air conditioning - which was wonderful as we were both hot and bothered after a long day. Our waiter and other staff were extremely accommodating and ran around to please us. The waiter suggested a choice of 2 Rose wines from which we chose one. Then we ordered: I chose the entrecôte steak and my husband ordered the sole. Firstly, the steak - this was I think the best steak that I have ever had in my life - totally melt in the mouth meat - cooked to perfection for me and plainly served with mushrooms and chips! My husband's sole again, was perfectly prepared and cooked just right with lemon and parsley and again served plainly with boiled potatoes and a small amount of salad. What an amazing meal. It was truly one to remember.Just prior to us being served a big table of 12 arrived and sat very near to us - in fact so near, we had to move our table over a bit for them all to fit in. Before long someone at the big table complained about the air conditioning and so the waiter turned it down and pushed the wings up so as it was practically of no use to the room. My husband and I became extremely uncomfortable with the heat so we didn't stay for coffee or any extras because of this. This restaurant is fitted out really well with good quality decor and style - I think the problem of the air conditioning should be sorted out so that the whole room can benefit from it. It is for this reason I will stick with the very good, rather than excellent!
